1/6 sport coat

They're too sexy for their clothing - but they have to wear them anyway! Did you buy it? Did you make it? Who cares - let'm strut their stuff here!

1/6 sport coat

For my detective photostory, I had my detective all picked out. But he didn't look like a detective! All casual clothes. So I decided to make him a sport coat to wear with his more casual clothes, rather Miami Vice or something.

I used the Simplicity 4754 pattern, and even though this is sized for Ken, it fit Mr. Power Team Guy pretty well.

Since my sewing machine was packed away to make room for a photostory set, I hand-sewed.

As always, you can click through and see larger images on Flickr.

Here's the front view:

View of the back - yeah it is a bit tight on him:

Here are some action shots! Note that the pockets are real (I decided to change that) and do hold his cell phone:

Workin' it!

That's one sharp looking guy. Well done coat. I find it very hard to sew that small.

Great job :) Every time I see PTE guys I can't help but see a bit of mine. Interesting idea making him a detective.

Nice job! I am still fighting with a 1/5 scale suit coat that I am sewing by hand.

He looks great--and he looks just like a detective ought to look.

Thanks everyone!

He made a surprisingly good detective, though a bit brooding. His sculpt looks thoughtful and a bit sad.

More pics of him can be found my my Banana Murder Mystery Contest entry.

I had a lot of fun sewing at this scale! It was just time consuming, as I had to make sure my stitches were tiny. I am very proud of the pockets.

Um, in photo number 5 - that lady next to him looks like she's either going to pick his pocket....or something else LOL

Very nicely done coat - I hand sew most of my stuff so I know how fiddly it can get with small things - great job!

*giggles*

Man, I never noticed that. I think I was just happy that she was standing up! Barbies really don't like to do that. She fell over far more than anyone else - the Power Team guys and the Liv girl stood just fine. I eventually had to make a crude doll stand out of a coat hanger and then carefully crop it out of the photos.

And yeah, sewing at scale is tough. But the results are great. I'm hoping to get to work on another outfit soon. As a reward for doing my Spring Cleaning. *looks around messy apartment* Maybe sometime in May...
