I missed most of this. I'm kinda glad.

At this point folks, I'm well able to laugh about the entire incident - and I find it amusing how she managed to, if nothing else spice up a friday on the forum- usually it's the deadest day of the week around here hahahahaha

Yeah, didn't you know gore mods aren't allowed on DoA?!?!? Jeesh. And the whole thing really is kinda funny. Though it seems she's unsure what side of the fence she's on about the whole "Nazi" uniform thing. I saw contradictions and am confuuuzed. *shrug*

Well, gore mods are allowed but they aren't suppose to be full body/extreme. I think it's probably pretty debatable on the extent, but I don't really want to see any of it myself.

I know people show them all the time in the workshop area - both in progress and how they make them so it can't be too strict of a rule.

This discussion has brought to mind one of my favorite moments of dubious distinction in the 1/6 scale part of the hobby....

The "My Little Nazi Dolls" post on Craigslist NYC:

A timeless classic of humor, pathos and sheer WTF-ness!

OMG - it's the ending that is the best moment of all - part of you sympathizes, and part of you agrees with his parents!

The guy from Craigslist is named Brian Hicks and here's more of the story.

Back during the time he was really active in the hobby (~2004-2006), there was a debate about whether he was a very clever troll or if he was seriously that off-beat. There was one moderator at One Sixth Warriors that regularly dealt pretty harshly with him and there was some mutual antagonism with several members as well. Having watched the situation as it was playing out and subsequently becoming a board mod myself, I don't think it was handled very well and probably contributed to Brian's feelings of persecution. On the other hand, he was clearly trying to push a lot of buttons and I got the distinct impression that there was both some mischief and possibly malice at work. Looking through his photos and reading his old posts would also lead you to conclude that Brian was drinking pretty heavily at the time.

Interestingly enough, I rediscovered Brian's work at OSW a couple years ago while researching a "neo-retro" WW2 project and found myself really inspired. His photography is pretty good from a compositional standpoint and the irreverent humor, blatant homo-erotica and beer-fueled craziness still makes me laugh my ass off in spite of myself. It's provocative without resorting to the obscene, wickedly satirical while being disturbingly, almost sweetly sincere and basically a big stick in the eye to those folks enjoy the subject of Nazi-era Germany a little too much.
