It's much easier to make adjustments that way because it's nothing to add a seam allowance after. When I was working on pants I had a saddle bag problem but never a baggy seat. How are you measuring to wind up with that?
Well, I'm working out a pattern to specifically fit the RS MSD boy body, because I'll have 3 of the lil buggers once I'm done with body and head swapping.... And I used some plastic wrap and tape to work out the basic pattern, but once I cut apart the plastic wrap, and traced it onto the scrap fabric, but I guess the plastic bits shifted or something while tracing. Or I just eyeballed things wrong, or didn't sew it right on the line. I don't know, I messed up somewhere. My third attempt worked out well enough, except I sewed the hem on the cuffs a little uneven, so one side is
slightly shorter but it's not too noticeable, and they high-water on him, but the final pattern can be made with a little more length. I'm still kind of frustrated with it.
You have my sympathies, VV.... my mom's old place flooded every spring, when the snow melted, because the drains were stopped up from the last owners of the house.
On another note, and more that belongs in this thread.... my hubby got arrested the other night for what should've been a walking arrest, but the cop was trying to show off to his rookie partner..... so he spent the night in jail, and I made a fool of myself, pounding down the neighbor's door, like a piece of white trailer trash. -sigh- Fortunately, my neighbor forgave me for my less than stellar display, but the whole weekend really sucked. The car had been bought from the neighbor last month, but he never got my roommate (who bought the car) the title to it, while the neighbor had a suspended license, so we were pulled over because the tag is still registered to the neighbor... so I pounded on his door like I was raiding his house to blame him for the pullover.... it was a mess and I had a lovely little panic attack.
