Help with Tonner?

Postby Kittywolf13 » Thu Jun 09, 2011 11:48 am

I've been thinking about adopting a toner for awhile now. Partially as a reference to what of her clothes will fit other dolls I own and partially just cause. But when looking up the dolls I get terriably overwhelmed and confused by all the different lines. My other worry is that I like stylized dolls. (cute, cartoony or Anime like) and toner is very realistic (like most American dolls). I do have a dynamite girl (Rufus blue) but she's pretty stylized. I was going to buy a manguin to do my own faceup but she sold out. :(

So I'm here to hopefully have you guys spam me with pics and a short description of who, what, where. To help me make a more informed descion. :)

You could still get a doll whose face shape you like, remove her faceup and draw your own.. just a thought :)

Check the online doll stores. Some still have mannequins in stock. The Doll Peddlar does. http://www.dollpeddlar.com/advanced_search_result.php?keywords=mannequin

Yeah Tonner's doll are pretty realistic looking. If you're looking to doing your own face-up I think a mannequin would be your best bet. You never know what some of the Tonner dolls or even Madame Alexander dolls could be worth someday.

Doll Peddlar also has Nude Dolls they sell. http://www.dollpeddlar.com/index.php?cPath=1382
The Alex dolls are by Madame Alexander and have the same body type as my Audrey Hepburn. viewtopic.php?f=9&t=2066&p=18839&hilit=what+s+so+funny+alexander#p18839
I'm mostly on Tumblr now.

Here is one of Gift_in_Edge's Funny Face Tonner, she is sitting with my old Moxie Teen, and of course Violet.

She doesn't look nearly as mature as the other tonner's I've seen... She also seems smaller. But that's probably because I'm used to the bjd aesthetic of the larger heads. Thank you!!

And... I failed, Gift informed me after I posted that she's actually a Madame Alexander and not a Tonner, Sorry for the mix up!

Last year, we made a set of X-Men Girls 16" Tonners:

And some other X-Women versions:

More recently, we made some X-Men Tonners as well:

Also, my sister made me an Elizabeth Bennett Tonner doll from the 2005 movie:

and a pair of Robert Cummings & Deanna Durbin Portrait Tonners from the 1940 movie 'Spring Parade':
