I wonder if this is a problem with our internet provider, or possibly our home router...

After I got off line it occurred to me that "Unknown Host" is probably a DNS error. In which case changing browsers won't help. So then the question is are you getting to a DNS server at all or is the DNS not updating itself? I don't know how tech savy you are and I can only help you with Windows. Do you know how to check your TCP/IP settings?

If it's a DNS error, it probably lies with your ISP.

True. But I would still want to have my DNS info handy when I called the ISP.

Maybe that's just the geek in me. :ugeek: I'm sure the ISP help desk can talk you through getting any system setting they need.

Good news, I got an e-book reader for work, bad news 1 my home network doesn't understand there's supposed to be a new device, bad news 2 the pdf reader doesn't read the pictures in the free Google books I have, jpeg2000 or some other BS, so I get to open and resave each and every one. Each and every at least they're free book. The Oz series can wait now.

I did an admitted OT post in the North GA meet-up thread (we are meeting tomorrow), letting the other members know of a crisis situation with a local Humane Society. I nicely asked that the mods allow the post to stay because lives are at stake. Less than 10 minutes later the post was gone.

What kind of person deletes a post like that?!

Obviously, DoA mods. It's not about OT dolliehs so it cannot possibly be important.

Seriously that lot is so shallow they make mud puddles look deep.

Yeah, well I went back and added another post about the meet-up in which I "slid" a little notice that I'd discuss the situation with everyone at the library . . . and IT got deleted.

Sigh . . . my gut reaction is to claim the mod is just an animal hater who doesn't care that furry lives are at stake, but I fear it's worse. She's someone with mod blinders on who can't conceive of any world outside of DoA.

I'll tell you what. Put a post in that I am going to donate a custom made 60 cm outfit to be raffled for the Humane Society at that meet (and maybe the next couple). I still have the pirate wench that didn't sell on ebay I can send you. THERE IS NO WAY she can claim that is not on topic.

Which Humane Society?? I used to me VERY involved with Cherokee County, but college took my life. I'd like to help if I can.
