I am hoping I'll feel better when she gets here.

aieee so nervous and scared

I felt that way when I was waiting for Dani. Despite looking at her for months and months I was worried that when she finally got here she just wouldn't be right somehow. Then she showed up and was perfect.

My fingers are still cramped from last night's efforts on a new dress.... braiding 4ft of embroidery floss. And now I'm sewing bead embellishments. But the new dress is done and will go up for sale soon XD The red one I made sold before I even put it up.

I just have to say... I'm all for animal rights and no-kill shelters but... unless you're totally fine with getting disturbed and depressed, don't follow an animal rights page..

i'm disturbed at least 3 times a day and can't bring myself to hide the pages from my feed. Ug... u^u

I felt like such a baddie for unsubscribing to the ASPCA newsletter, but I can only take so much "they are going to die without your help" in my inbox when I am broke as a joke.
A hobby isn't supposed to leave you wistful, regretful and vaguely disappointed. BJD collecting is as customizable as the dolls themselves. Do whatever pleases you the most, because otherwise, why do it at all? All for the 'Gram Bitches love the 'Gram.

Fix your pets, consider buying used, and teach people how to care properly for pets and you're doing your part.

Need books?

Thanks to hoarding grandma and what ever her reasons were I was never able to figure out if I have a full set of Sesame Street Encyclopedias or even got to read them. I can understand people collecting rare books for their historical value but what good do they do if no one ever gets to read them? And there's still more boxes of books to go through, that was just this morning's session.

If anyone out there is looking for certain kinds of books please let me know, when my aunt and cousins come they'll just go back in to another hoard. There are plenty of Little Women and Black Beauty and other kids books from the 50s-70s if there's a particular one from your childhood you'd like to see again.

Even worse is the PETA ad campaigns. -shudder- I too, am all for animal rights, and environmentalism... but I can't stomach some of the things that they show. I do my part when I can. I've gotten quite a bit of guff from friends and family for feeding strays, and I've given just as much when I catch people littering. Both of my dogs were rescues, one from an abusive home, (he was kept in a crate 24/7, left to sleep in his own waste, and beaten with broom handles by the owner's husband) and one that would've gone to the local shelter, if we hadn't taken her in. And in Orange County, FL, pit bulls get put down if they end up in a shelter, most times. There's only one no-kill shelter around here, but they end up full very quickly. She was over 20lbs underweight at 6 months old, and her fur was falling out from poor nutrition. She is now at a proper weight, though she'll always be very tiny for a pitbull, has a gorgeous silky coat, and she is the most affectionate dog you ever did meet.

Speaking of dogs... my friend's dog ate her new beads. XD I shouldn't laugh, but I learned long ago that if you don't want a dog to eat something they shouldn't, don't leave it where they can get to it.

Those poor dogs. :( I'm glad they went to you and got a loving home. It's such a shame because pits and other breeds considered "aggressive" can be very sweet. I met a pit and rotti back at my old job who were such sweethearts.

And has anyone ever thought about using their own hair clippings for a doll wig. I cut my hair at home and I look at my hair in the waste basket (I cut some long strands off) and think "I could make a wig..."

According to one of the handlers we met at a dog training academy, American Staffordshire pit terriers are among the top breeds to earn their "canine good citizenship", right alongside the Golden Retriever... but as I have no source for this, other than hear-say, I don't know the truth behind it. I do know that there are at least ten pit-bulls or pit-bull mixes in my neighborhood, and every single one of them has been a sweetheart... slobber machines, but sweethearts none the less. I walk my pit to the mailbox every other day or two, and I don't even need a leash when I do it. She walks right by my side, like the perfect model canine from The Dog Whisperer. I have more trouble with my ten year old shiba inu, than I do with my three year old pit.
