OOOH I love *love* LOVE Maria and Lupita! Where did you GET them? Did you make them? Inherit them?

I love old ceramics! I have a few ceramic pieces from the 1920's through 60s and every piece speaks its own story. I find FANTASTIC things in thrift shops... they are the ones usually marked $1.00 or even "Free! Take it home! ... please" LOL

Maria and Lupita are Dominican Faceless dolls. Those two are pretty big, about 14-15 inches tall each. My mom used to collect them, and now there's a cabinet full of this sort of doll. Right now there's only six of these ladies out, the two large ones and four smaller ones. I really couldn't help myself and HAD to do that photostory. It was the image of them standing there laughing because they CAN'T go get help that made me do eet.

There was one last image that I didn't put in, because it looked creepy. It was one of the smaller dolls in the background saying "Welcome to Puerto Rico Meester Box, dere are plenty of beeches here."

Honestly, I'm going to be getting rid of them. As I said, cabinet filled, and I need the space they are occupying for storage. Plus, Maria & Lupita are not the largest of the bunch. o.O;;;;

Getting RID of them?!! OMG! I hope to good homes! I wish I had $$ so I could offer to buy them from you... I adore them and never heard of them before. If you are giving them away, I could try to come up with postage, but better I think for you to sell them to collectors who can cherish them.

Dang!

Now I'm a Maria and Lupita fan! :D

Maria and Lupita will be some of the later ones to be sold off, I've got over thirty of these dolls.... right now I'm working on posting about eight of the smaller ones on evilbay. The main problem with them is that they are a pain in the keister to ship! You have no idea how many of these girls I've seen arrive in *pieces* because they were only tossed into a box with packing peanuts. Parts on them are oddly fragile. :(
