Custom eye creation. (updated)

Postby myotishia » Thu Nov 10, 2011 11:35 am

It's easier than you'd think. Today we're going to start with a Hujoo eye. The default ones many of them come with.
First you need to take out the original detail.
Protect the front lens with putty and drop a little nail varnish remover onto the sticker. Let it soak a little then begin peeling it off with some flat ended tweezers. Don't worry if the inside of the eye gets scratched. It gives the eye more depth. Add more remover as needed.

Now you have your blank. Choose a colour of nail varnish you really like, I find glitter works great here, and begin adding. If you want a pupil paint that first and let it dry before adding the iris colour. It's as easy as that and very effective.

Lol my messy fingers. This is a full glitter eye that shines very brightly. And they're not just for Hujoo dolls. Here is that eye presented in my SD Helen's head.

Here is an eye with a pupil...

I hope this was helpful and if anyone wants any more advice feel free to ask.

This is a cool idea, but for me I have never worked with eyes like these before. Do you open up the eye first? I am a bit confused on that part. The detail is in the inside of the eye. Does it open up easily?

Acrylic eyes are easy to open. Most of the detail is on the inside on a sticker. You just have to remove it :)

I have never had acrylic eyes before so didn't know. Thanks for telling me. If I can get some down the line that don't cost a lot, I would like to try this idea of yours.

You can usually find acrylic ones for less than £10 so it's a great thing to try out on a small budget. :)

You could just buy blank eyes instead of opening ones that are already made...
I have so many dolls that I can't fit all their names in my signature anymore. @__@

Lol. I just always used the ones I got free with dolls. I'll have to look up some blanks ^_^
