This wasn't even talking about a child's level of fiddling, but just the standard maintenance of restringing...

Indeed the same plastic that is used to manufacture the infamously indestructable Lego bricks. Yes ABS is only plastic (only one of the more expensive mass produced plastics... Because the manufacturing process is made difficult by the acrylic butadiene rubber used to toughen it... ). Yes only plastic... So inferior to it's counterpart the amazing polymer we call resin... that can practically be mixed in a bucket... (not that PU resins aren't great, it's kinda awesome, but seriously!? There's a reason resins are generally made thicker...)

They make glow in the dark nail polish. I honestly never new they made it until last night, I borrowed it from my Dad's girlfriend's daughter. The one I have is pink(and the actual polish cap is a light!), but it doesn't glow pink, and it doesn't glow a whole bunch, but it is till so neat! The brand I have is Rue21. I thought nail polish wasn't good for dolls though?

I string them with wound threads of unicorn hair. I don't even bother with MSC. I seal them with Umpa-lumpa tears.

Okay 1. I love you for this. 2. I now know what I'm going to do with one of the little mermaids I just cast. Rhinestone encrusted tail anyone?

Also, I came to this thread to mention the bad case of the wantsies that I've got, except the idea of one of the little mermaids being gem encrusted somehow cured me. Or maybe it was the mustache guns, but either way I'm good now. Thanks. :D

Yup! The tail has two joints. There's also pirates and robots in a small chibi scale. I haven't posted any pictures of these projects (in fact I barely took any in process pictures) but they've just been sitting around waiting for inspiration to finish them. Here's a picture of the head while it was still being sculpted for scale reference. The eyes are 7mm.


Now that inspiration has struck, we'll see what I can get done tonight. So proper pics soon. :D

It has been my experience that waiting for inspiration is like waiting for rain in the Sahara. I find the greatest inspiration comes to me after I've started working and have pushed past the natural psychological fear-of-failure threshold barrier. Punching past that barrier is key to any creative endeavour. Blank pages are terrifying. Editing crap is not. I write a lot of crap then I am inspired and edit it into something I like.

I'm sure your sculpting could be the same way, make something icky and as you're working your ideas flow and you can sand it and mold it into something amazing.

That being said, I want to see a sparkly doll covered in rhinestones and crystals.
