For SD/MSD owners....Where and what props work with them?

Postby Alopecia No Hime » Sat May 05, 2012 1:27 am

I know some bigger tea-set's like the ones from when I was collecting them would work...But what about furniture, stuff like that? I'm curious since my dad's a carpenter if he can make some out of scrap wood...

And whilst I'm asking...What type of food props also work? I know the sushi Iwako erasers will work just fine...I think I'll finally be able to enjoy an SD/MSD soon. And shoes? I can make clothes or see what American Girl stuff will fit but what about shoes?

Mainly it's just keeping your eyes open. I found these amazing metal decor chairs at JoAnn fabrics that are the PERFECT size for my msd boys. I waited for them to go on clearance. ^__^ I have the American Girl camping chair that works as well. For food I mainly have the erasers you mentioned.

I made Momiji a love seat for his 'room' out of cardboard, hot glue, a little foam and fabric.

Shoes are the main thing that I order. The only ones I can make are flipflop like sandals for my boy who has his toes split. Several companies make shoes/sneakers, just depends on the look you are going for and how much you want to spend. I end up spending more on their shoes than I do for MINE!!!!

Thanks for the tip. I definietly don't want to spend more then I have to but shoes (sneakers especially) seem to help stabilize them for standing photo's so my budget on those would be probably...Fifteen excluding shipping. I'm honestly not even sure which doll I'm gonna get or the character it's gonna be. Nothing's planned out period. I think this is the first time that's happened...Those Erasers are awesome.

Hmm...A loveseat huh...Giving me some idea's for how to employ my hot glue gun again. (Besides eventually sueding....I'm not beating around the bushes I'm getting me a resin.)

If you get an MSD, Hearts for Hearts girl clothing also fits some. You can find it at Target. I even have one outfit that came with slippers which fit perfectly.

Another food prop that could work for either size is those single serve ice creams that a lot of brands make now. Enjoy the ice cream and your dolls can enjoy the left over container! Also, check out art stores for all different sorts of unexpected things. I have a perfect MSD sized M&M bag that is actually a fancy, 3-d sticker.

For furniture, there are a few ways to make couches out of the doll's box. I think there is a set of instructions down in tutorials for one version.

Shoes can get pretty ridiculous, I don't even pay some of those prices for my own shoes! one of the shoe companies on moc have nice inexpensive shoes (ithink it's mdoll?) props show up everywhere, though. Second hand shops are a great place to look. I found a working Singer sewing machine that's perfect for 1/3 scale, a 1/4 oboe, a kitchen and dishes, even a bedroom set. Half the fun is finding unusual things in scale for me.

Best Friends Club Ink or BFC Ink clothes fit my RS Mei loosely. I don't know if they're still made since I got the one outfit on clearance. They come with shoes though. They're too big for my girl, but the pair I have are very open, just the toes are covered.

Outfit I have: http://www.amazon.com/BFC-Ink-Large-Dol ... pd_sim_t_4

The others seem like they might fit better if they cover more foot. xD (I got mine at Kmart for like $5)

o-o

As per props/furniture.. I have a american girl sized bean bag chair... It was an off brand I think. xD I found it in Wal Mart. It was orange :D (They also had a bed there, but I wasn't sure about it... >> )

Also mini teddy bears or other small key chain sized animal plushes are good too. xD

Big Jewelery boxes with lots of drawers can make nice dressers. ^^

(I want a table and chairs and a tea set for my MSDs so they can have a tea party on my desk D: ...and then I want a bench for them, the beanbag chair is getting too full, three MSDs and a 1/6 and 1/12 is a lot for such a tiny thing xDD )

Thanks for the tips. I'll keep an eye out for the BFC clothes.

Hmm maybe for a tea set the little ones they have in dollar stores would work. I definietly wanna find something cool like that. I got some old wicker chairs that I used to use for my American Girl dolls back when I was younger. An RS would fit perfect in one.
