My Obi48 comes together!

Postby Aine » Thu May 10, 2012 1:00 pm

As it stands right now, I need practice. :T But it will do for now, as soon as I fix her lips. Or wipe them. Or something.

She looks angry at me for inflicting this on her. Well ma'am, if your eyeball would stop moving whenever I try to move you, we would be having no problems.

ETA: One eyeball fixing later, she looks less angry, and and I can see more clearly what exactly needs to be fixed about the eyes. I still have a hard time with these eye stalks, though. :T

Aligning eyeballs can be...challenging.
Unless you "picasso'd" her, put a wig and some clothes on her and step back and take a look. Sometimes you really can't tell what you've got till you look at the whole package.

As far as eye stalks go - if they are glass, chip'm off (that's what I've done). If they are acrylic eyes you can actually separate the front half from the back half with the stalk and just not use it.

It's also useful to look at what you've done in a mirror. Sometimes it shows things up that you don't see.

Her wig arrived today, and I fell in love with her all over again as soon as I saw her in it. I totally forgot our mutual anger about the state of her face. There are still some things I would like to do to her face, but it now no longer annoys me to the point that I hate her. Tomorrow's adventure will be more clothes and drafting a pattern for a carrying bag while I'm at work. Maybe I'll just document all of it in this thread.

OOoo awesome! Yeah, I just broke the backs of my eyes off because I could not pry them apart. I also hacked at the eye pockets. I can't wait to see her all done!

This is about as far as I got before my sewing machine was like "LOL NO" and unthreaded its bobbin. One sock. The sock is made of t-shirt fabric that I got really freaking cheap at Hancock.

Also, I got some cute fabric to hopefully make tops and maybe a dress out of. Also really cheap and Hancock. Overall I spent about $3.50, taxes included.

When I get paid, I hope to be able to pick up some more of these little bits, they're about half a yard each, I'm really impressed, for the price. My next project will be pattern based, so it'll probably turn out a little better than the projects I'm working on now, which is just going off tutorials and measurements. :P

So cute!! It's hard to find small pieces of affordable fabrics here... I usually buy cheap kids' clothing to make doll stuff XD

My darling, now decent for public consumption. I fail at making socks the same size, but I like both socks, so I'm going to make another of each. Making clothes is hard, so I've decided that when I get paid, I'll probably just order her some. :x I'm having a hard time finding shoes that fit her feet, though. The ones she has on have their toes stuffed so that they'll stay on.

This is going to be the outfit she spends most of her time in, since it's white and not likely to stain.
