Jabari, Jelani and Siofra (1/4 BJDs)

I figure I should post these dudes ^_^ I've made three 1/4 size BJDs so far and have more in the works! All the pictures lead to flickr, where you can see lots of the in progress pictures and nekkid body shots if interested. Just check out my picture sets ^_^

This is Siofra...she's about 41.5-42 cm tall, super curvy, lotsa boobs and grumpy. Always, always grumpy. >_>

This is Jabari. He's a larger doll at 47 cm tall, on the skinny side except for his booty...apparently I sculpt junk in the trunk, haha. He was actually the first doll I ever sculpted to completion...3 times. He also stole those glasses...they're actually for an incoming doll of mine.

And lastly, this is Jelani. Jelani is Jabari's brother. They're twins...sorta. >_> Jelani is a trouble maker and a problem and usually the reason his friends get into trouble...anyways. He's on the same body as Jabari, so he's also 47 cm tall. I'm still working on his face and figuring out his wig, etc before I have his character together ^_-;;

All these dolls are actually going to have some fantasy components that I hope to get finished with in the next month...but anyways, hope you liked them!

Wooooow they are awesome! Could you share the processes you go through to sculpt them?

Sure! I'm actually in process with another girl doll -- different body than Siofra, but still a Mini. Her name is Feenat. I have some concept art around here somewhere for her, but that's usually the extent of planning I do for my dolls.

With Feenat, I took one of my junk Siofra head casts and basically cut off all the facial features except the forehead, neckhole area and ears. Trying to save myself some work ^_^

For the body, I start off with a whole body. I should be doing this on a turntable and properly mounted, but I don't have the space to really do that ( I sculpt in my tiny living room in my apartment, lol). So I get a very rough shape put together, with rough approximations of the body parts and sizes.

Then I cut the doll up, complete with psycho music in the background

That's how far I am at the moment. I'm currently extending the arms to their approximate length to the wrist and then I'll make a little pancake looking thing that will be the approximation of the hand. I'm the type of sculptor that does a lot of subtractive carving, so I don't do much detail at first. It's really about getting the shapes properly approximated. Like, I know Feenat needs longer legs to balance her head size, so that's on my list of things to do

As I work on her, I'll post more pics of my process!
