I'm so sorry that happened to you Magkelly. But all is not lost in getting rid of the smell. I heard burying them in unused cat litter for awhile helps get rid of smells...

Would 1 vodka to 4 water work? My smother used it on my room and now she says it doesn't smell like smoke.

And burying in clean kitty litter does work, get some old fashioned kind not crystals or clumping. After the litter you can seal them in a bag or container with some powdered detergent you like the smell of. I desmoked some rubber Action Man gear that way.

I got sniped on a lot that had a bunch of Spectra (the 80's dolls not the Monster High doll) and Aurora (again the 80's dolls and not the Disney princess) and a couple of Jem dolls. I only wanted one of the Spectra dolls since it is the one I am missing (the AA doll so she is slightly harder to find than others) and the Aurora dolls (usually the only ones I see are NRFB and expensive). I don't want to pay NRFB prices for a doll I plan to hybrid.

So, today I told my only girlfriend of 30yr.
that I got a couple dolls and showed her photos I took of them....
and she looked at me weird and said "You gotta get out more".

Mica - *hugs* I'm sorry you got that reaction. Sometimes people just don't get it, at least right away. When I first got into dolls my friends gave me all kinds of strange looks, and sometimes I still get them from new people, but even the friends who were at first really creeped out came around. When I first brought Taavi home, I had a roommate ask for me not to have him out if she was home or to have my door closed if he was sitting on my desk. After a few months I came home to her watching a movie with him on the couch next to her. I'm sure she didn't mean to hurt your feelings, and she'll eventually realize that collecting dolls doesn't mean that you don't get out.

It took my family a looong time to get used to my hobby, but new people I meet generally love it. It's weird. They're always surprised about how I get all insecure when I talk about my dolls and they tell me there's no need to feel ashamed.

Mica- Some of my family, like aunts and uncles, think my dolls are weird. They've seen some pictures of taken of them and seen some in person. Want do they want me to do, do pot?!

I'm glad I'm on the social side of this hobby because doll meets and this forum are a lot of fun. :D
