I think it would be a civil court matter but the animal was given and alas that's the end of it, unless the people were in a relationship.

I recently moved out of a 2 bedroom with my girlfriend and a roommate into a one bedroom with just my girlfriend. I let the roommate take one of my cats on the condition that I could see the cat (Joyce) from time to time.

Since the move she hasn't talked to me, no matter how often I've asked her about the cat. Finally she unfriended me from FB and I'm pretty sure she's going to block me from her phone too. I never did anything to her. She screwed my girlfriend and I over multiple times while living with us (didn't have enough for rent, refused to clean any of the common areas when we all moved apart and cost us our deposit, used up all the storage space and most of the room in the apartment, etc), but now, now I'm sad. I loved that cat, but I couldn't keep her (I had her 8 years), because she couldn't get along with the kitten and I didn't want to give her back to my mom because my mom already has 7 cats and the last two years the cat was at my mom's while I lived in a dorm Joyce lived on a windowsill...

I really thought I was making a good decision letting my ex roommate take her, but now I'll never see her again. So I feel stupid and sad.

could...uh, could that be taken up with the cops?

No.

You can't take it to small claims court either; that is reserved for actual transactions where money changed hands.

You could sue. It would cost at minimum $2500 in lawyers fees and court costs and in the end the verdict would be "you gave the cat away, case closed."

The ONLY thing you could do, if you suspected the ex roommate was abusing that cat, would be to turn her over to the Humane Society. They *might* investigate, if they happen to be in a city where Animal Planet is filming "Animal Cops" and they actually have a budget.

I'm just whining again... and I know that probably no one is going to bother reading or responding, but it helps me to type things out.

Grrrrrraaaaah! I think I made a serious tactical error in my ordering... maybe...
When I broke down and decided to order dolls because I saw Iplehouse EID Asa, it was because her face bears a close resemblance to my Lynn Yi Character.
http://www.iplehouse.net/shop/step1.php?number=2026

Now, I had done a lot of research before buying anything anywhere, but I overlooked one thing....
There is a JID version of Asa as well!
http://www.iplehouse.net/shop/step1.php?number=2249

And the way she looks in makeup type B pictures looks pretty similar to the EID version, but the thing is that the EID version has beautiful curves, while the Character Lynn Yi has a more fragile waifish look, so the JID medium breast size would have been far more ideal for her... The hips are still a tad wide for Lynn, but it would work.

The EID body would be perfect for her younger sister who is far more outgoing and outrageous than she is and looks like she should be the senior of the 2. Her older sister has a more muscular/toned body, so while her face would be similar to Lynn/Asa's, there is no body on the market that could represent her right now.

Even if I were to consider buying yet another doll while I have 4 in-transit, it should probably be a boy since I'm waiting on 3 girls already! :(

Well this should be interesting. Two of the raccoons out there so far have looked extremely sick (one we trapped and exterminated, one I saw in the middle of the driveway in the middle of the day). I was concerned about rabies, obviously, but I did some research and there are no reports of rabies this year in our county. However over the course of the research, I found some YouTube videos of raccoons that were acting exactly the same.

They had canine distemper.

It is 100% fatal in raccoons.

Our problem is probably going to solve itself, because they are a group and have undoubtedly infected each other.

The "sucks" part is that we think one of them crawled under my husband's studio and died there....

"Oh what an incredible smell you've discovered...."

My uncle had a dog stolen right out of his yard by a person who lived a block over. That person then immediatly gave the dog to someone else. They had witnesses and proof, but in the end the cops and judge who tried the case still weren't able to get the dog back.

I'm guessing that in your case its something like what was said above and your old roommate is afraid you're trying to get her back. Which would mean she loves that cat very much and she's probably being taken very good care of. I am sorry though that you have to go through this.

Until all 4 of them come in don't buy another doll. The only exceptions are a dirt cheap sale or a really good free doll event. Get yourself a bottle or some other "piggy bank" you can see in to and every time you're tempted between now and everyone else arriving put money in your piggy bank. By the time everyone is here you may have enough to get another doll or something nice for them.

Totally agreeing with DK. You might find yourself overwhelmed enough as it is with the four dolls. You'll need to give yourself time to get to "know" them. I think what might be happening is two-fold. You indicated you first started looking at bjds as models for your art, then as you started researching them, you became interested in them as a hobby. If all you wanted was models, then getting several just for that purpose and no other would be understandable. However, now I think you are looking at them as an extension of yourself, as individual outlets of creativity and personality, as so many of us here do. That takes them to a different level. There's nothing wrong with having a lot of dolls (just ask GrayHaunt and Ciquemom!), but you don't want to over-extend yourself so soon into the hobby or you could burn yourself out just as quickly.

Yes, you are both right. I just have a super obsessive personality! So it's really hard for me to hold back.

When I work on something, I barely eat or sleep till it's done lol. I can spend an entire week working 15 hour days on paintings or digital models, whatever it is that I"m doing. So waiting just doesn't sit well with me at all. It's extremely difficult.

You had some really good insight Kirahfaye. True both about the search for a model in the beginning and then it becoming a hobby, as it is nice to see old characters I had made and love come to life in doll form and be able to project those personalities onto them. I also really admire the work that people put into these dolls and want to possess their beauty. And the nostalgia of making doll clothes I did when I was a kid is so comforting too. I have the feeling that making larger size clothes will be a lot more fun since working small is so challenging.

I think I wouldn't be quite as crazy if there wasn't such a long wait time lol. Maybe I'll fee a little better when my obitsu at least gets here.

Thank you both for talking to me!

That doesn't mean you can't get started... when I was waiting for my first boy, I made him a 1/4 scale Japanese futon (cushion, sheets, pillow, comforter). You can make furniture out of cardboard, stuffing, hot glue, and fabric. You can make free-size clothes like robes and kimono or wrap skirts. There's TONS of stuff to do. ^___^

I've been there in the non stop creative thing. Proper sleep is a very important part of the process. I had to teach myself to write down plot points for stories instead of staying up until 2am. And my bad back doesn't let me just sit there any more.

Why not get a blank sketch book to fill up with designs for your dolls? It's a way to use up creative energy and you'll have instant results seeing all the pages you've done. I have a crap load of dolls too but they took years to get. Had some of them come in too soon they'd be different little people.
