I've accepted that there are different places to talk about different dolls ;) and I love them all.

Really, as much as we like to poke fun at DoA there are some truly great places in there where you can participate without any worry. The judgemental areas tend to be the discussions about the merits of different brands etc... I generally just hang out in the section they call the "Workshop". I've learned a lot of stuff about sewing, customizing, etc... from there and never had any problem with anyone at all. I've literally been a member there for years, but I barely have 250 posts since I mostly just read :)

I think that may be where i end up spending most of my time. I love the artistic part of owning a doll and making it your own. <3
There's nothing i love more than creating things and giving them their own life.

XD *hugs*
I need to investigate that section more. I had been hoping to find a nice doll oriented creative community somewhere with lots and lots of artists.

Seriously?? I've invited lots of people from here that I pretty much didn't know at all. O.o

Ah really? I thought I had read that people got in trouble if the ones they invited caused problems.

Not that I think badly of anyone for asking for or giving invites without knowing each other, but I didn't ask for an invite for a while because I felt bad asking perfect strangers to do that for me hehe. Especially since I was under the impression that there were consequences if the inviter chose poorly.

The only people that got in trouble (ie: suspended or banned) in that regard, were the people caught by mods there trying to sneak their banned friends back into the forum. If you give an invite to a person you don't know and they turned out to be less than desirable, you'd probably get a stern warning about abusing the invite system, but you're not gonna be banned or anything.

And really, one must do something drastic to get banned on DoA. So far, the only people that were banned there were known thieves and scammers, a woman that repeatedly became verbally abusive towards other members despite numerous warnings, a sculptor who was proven to be a copier, resellers of bootlegs, etc etc.

Good to know! Guess I had heard one too many stories and that made it sound like you could get banned at the drop of a hat there hehe. Then again a lot of stories make it sound like the place is full of snobby jerks that will bite your head off for speaking out of turn, but I haven't really seen anything bad since I've been there.

A thread I started disappeared and I didn't get any notification about it being deleted or moved, but that's it. Maybe I actually forgot to hit the "submit" button before I closed the tab...

That's weird. Threads I started have been closed or moved several times and they always sent me a pm. Are you sure you're looking in the right subforum..?

yep, I was definitely looking in the right sub forum and I checked around several other places too to see if it had been moved without them notifying me, and it was just gone.

Yea, some mods over there will tell people if they delete your thread, and some won't. Sometimes your thread just gets merged with a bigger thread on the same topic. They are really anal sometimes about not having multiple threads about the same topic. I've had it happen to me...heck I think everyone has had it happen to them at least once LOL. I can somewhat understand it, after running this place for two years, but at the same time I do think they go overboard on occassion as well. There, not unlike any forum, it can just depend on the mod.
