EDIT: ahaha freak out over. Everything should really be fine so I'll just give them a call when they're open tomorrow. In the meantime...back to watching the Olympics.
Make sure you have all the documentation.
NEVER send them the originals.
Send it by registered mail so they HAVE to sign for it.
I hope everything will be fine, but it will probably take a whole lot more than just one phone call. And you might have to get a lawyer involved.
Yeah, I've been documenting everything but most of it was supposedly cleared up on the phone today. The consolidation process hinked up the computers. I got the official "hey we paid everything off" letter today but their system is still half wrong. I'm assured that this will clear itself up within two weeks and that my credit score won't be affected by this, but I also got the information on how to fix the credit score if it does get messed up by this. I don't think this is over, but I think it will be okay.
Don't be afraid to rattle a lawyer at them.
BTW, it is illegal to practice law without a license but it is not illegal to impersonate a lawyer. You can make up legal stationary and a legal firm and send them a phony warning letter.
