Shen's new Chinese-ish outfit

They're too sexy for their clothing - but they have to wear them anyway! Did you buy it? Did you make it? Who cares - let'm strut their stuff here!

Shen's new Chinese-ish outfit

Postby Dirili » Sun Sep 23, 2012 3:18 pm

yay! Now that I'm done with all my obligations for the moment I'm finally clothing my Iplehouse gang.

Starting with Shen (Bichun EID superhero body). Think I spent the last 3 days sewing this? I designed it with some Chinese elements, but wanted it to be a little different. Still not sure what to do about footwear... I don't like any of Iplehouses' EID shoes for this outfit and no others that I've found anywhere fit. I don't want to do slippers, boots or sandals. Will have to think about it for a while.

He looks like a fighter in that. Barefeet is nice tooo when you're training.

What about using bandages or pads like how some folks use wrist pads to protect the back of their hands?

Your sewing looks amazing as always. He's really coming together as a character.

By no slippers, do you mean you don't want kung-fu shoes like these(link is human size): http://www.goodorient.com/Dragon_Chinese_Traditional_Kung_Fu_Brocade_Shoes_P23103
I think they would look good with his outfit, but maybe they are too typical? You could also consider Chinese leather clogs or something like these(link also human sized):

I also like Iwa-hoshi's suggestion of some kind of binding. Hope you find what you're looking for.

Thanks you all!

Right yarwel, I don't want kung-fu shoes for him. They just don't suit his character. Binding, or shoes a bit like that 2nd pic you posted might work! I'll have to think on it for a while.

I might redo the pants too. The material is a bit too flimsy, plus I was thinking about getting some more of the gold trim that I used for the top and use that for the pants as well. I had made the pants first and thought the thin trim looked best on them, but after making the top, I feel like maybe using the thick trim might have matched the pieces better.

What about "genie shoes"? I don't know what they're really called...but I saw a picture of a genie wearing them once, so now they're "genie shoes" XD Fancy slipper-type shoes with pointed toes?

I think you are right about the thick trim on the pants-i think it will give them an elegance they are lacking in comparison to the top. That second pair of shoes looks really interesting-what kind of material would you use?

Aaah, the new pants look so much better!

yeah, still undecided about the shoes... want to have something a touch more modern about them to bring the costume into the present day a bit. Think I may have to delve into attempting shoe making a bit at some point. Think i'll leave him barefoot for now while I clothe the others.

Nice! The wide trim really makes those pants.
