Tokyo Parabox Store

Postby Tira-chan » Sun Aug 08, 2010 3:20 am

I'm in Tokyo, and today I stopped by the Parabox store in Nakano Broadway Mall. It was really nice - not as much stock, especially for bodies, as Emory has, but a huge selection of clothes and wigs that aren't available through Junkyspot. It's especially nice if you want prepainted dolls instead of customizing your own - there was a large selection of both fullsets with wigs and outfits, as well as pre-painted (1/3rd scale) heads with eyes. It serves a different market than Junkyspot, I think, and is brick-and-mortar instead of online, of course, and I think it's worth stopping by if you're in Tokyo. My new girl, Alice, is already beautiful, and I can't wait to get her a face-up and a body.

EDIT: Also, Volks acrylics are very crappy - they look nice, but the backs come off constantly, especially when they come into contact with the eye wells on an Obitsu.

YES! I aboslutley LOVEd that store, it was just very tiny. ^__^ But the lady that was working was soooooo super nice. I could spend HOURS in Nakano Broadway-- so much fun to just wander and look at everything!

Oh cool! I suspect you couldn't take us any photos of it though (Darn Japanese and disliking photos). :(

It's probably cheaper to buy the Liquitex in the long run probably anyways... :P

Actually for Parabox you can. Just ask nicely. I managed to get a shot of their outside dolly display when I was there.

Oh yeah! Parabox is closed on Wednesdays. so plan your shopping trip

I didn't get any pictures, sorry. But it is weird how many places don't allow pictures. I can understand it in the cosplay/Lolita stores, where they don't want someone stealing their designs, but Volks doesn't allow photography of their doll gallery, even though you can find pictures of all of them online.

Forgot to ask.

Did you bring any of your dolls over for a vacation shoot?

No, I didn't want to risk anything happening to them. I was planning to pack Sochi, but I forgot.

Whimper! I want to go too!! Hazel needs to visit there and get goodies! What all did you buy? Where are ALL the stores? Is it hard to find?

I don't know about any other stores, but this one wasn't too hard to find. It was on the 3rd floor of the Nakano Broadway mall, which is easy to locate as long as you leave the station on the correct side of the station. I just bought a head and two wigs, because I wasn't sure what would and wouldn't fit Dess.
