Question!!!!

MSD, Tonners, or 40cm + (18" range)

Question!!!!

Postby Warrior » Fri Aug 27, 2010 10:23 am

Okay, this question is for those who have Tonner and other 1/4 dolls.....I know that don't narrow it down much

I have a Tonner Superman...but I refuse to introduce my boy because I *HATE* his body. He can't move properly. So does anyone know what 1/4 body I can get for him? and will the tanned skin version of the body work or would I have to go with their normal skin and paint/dye him the right color?

I got him for my 1/6 scale, I needed a big guy since I'm bringing my story characters to figure form.

So any suggestions?

Thanks! :)

I have him myself for customization and think his body isn't bad, really. It's not too, too poseable (because of all the muscles!! ^^), a little 'stiff', but decent enough and very nice. I don't think there really is a 1/4 really mature body available that would be better actually.
Most of the 1/4 resin bodies that I've seen, are kind of youthful and sort of scrawny looking, like teenagers or younger.

Do you intend to keep him as 'Superman' and so, all superhero-muscletoned? Or did you want to make him 'wimpier' looking by giving him a more slender body?

If so, most 1/4 resin bodies won't be dark enough to match the Tonner Superman head. He's pretty tanned, and Tonner skin is already darkish in tone. I think even 'tan' skintones will be too 'warm' and light for a perfect match (Tonner skin tends to be 'garish' in tone), so you may have to dye/paint it to match the head, or paint the head's skintone to match the body. ^^

The only well muscled 1/4 body I've ever seen is the Ala Carte Minifee Type B (I believe) body from Fairyland. However it would hardly equal the proportions you'd expect of Superman :(

I'm not keeping him Superman. The Superman head is perfect though for a really really tall Elf in the books I wrote. But his body type isn't right, I would normally work with it anyway but he can't turn his elbow in or out. Skyeyes (Thats my Elf Kings nickname) has a slim but toned body anyway, so I'd like to try and find one close to how I wrote him. And painting or dying the head or body to match is not a problem for me.

The 1/4 AOD body is one of the more mature for the scale. My Nagi has an AOD body and I've always been very pleased with it. Also the AOD is one of the tallest MSD at 46 cm. Not sure how it would go with that head since I don't have any Tonners.

Shot of Nagi's chest, back when he had a full body blush from Kiki-chan78.

Have you considered one of the other Tonner male dolls? The male Superhero body is something of a joke to me, it's really a 1/4 scale action figure. An option that might work (not sure of the vinyl match, but you never know...) is the Peter Pevensie doll from Tonner's Narnia collection. The doll is a 19-inch doll with much more flexible posing than the male Superhero bodies. The face of the Peter doll is very young, but the body is more late teens, but compared to the majority of the mail 1/4 scale BJDs I've seen, Peter is definitely heavier set with a better physique.

Here's a link to someone selling one on Ebay for $45.

I like my dolliehs a lot.
Actually, I like my dolliehs more than I like a lot of people I know in real life.
Is that bad? I think not!

Good thought, Highlander-san! Funny, I was going to mention him since I have him actually put the Superman up against him to check head compatibility and skintone, and the Superman head will probably fit, but the skintone is slightly off color, but not too badly. I also didn't mention him, because he doesn't have a 'swivel' or turning waist, so I didn't think Natasha-san would want him, either.

But if you do, Natasha, just PM me about it. I bought him by accident last year, while looking for a good body for my 1/4 Gambit custom Tonner and am more than willing to sell him really inexpensively (around $35). I had planned to eventually turn him into Colossus or Sabretooth (Yeah, I know THAT one is a stretch!) because he's huge compared to the other 1/4 Tonners, to auction later on, but I've had NO time lately to make any customs for eBay, so if you want him, just PM me.

:hugs:

I really like the Planetdoll boy body. This is my Mstya after I blushed his abs. He is their tan.
