I'm scared of buying a doll and having it be lost in shipping or like having it damaged or end up a recast

I'm paranoid that someone will make me sell my dolls. I see so many Marketplace threads that start with "I've fallen on financial hardship and need to sell my doll" and I look at my babies and see how much effort and love I've put into each and every one of them, and I just couldn't do it. And yet if it was a matter of keeping a roof over our heads or food on the table, I worry that I'd be forced to give them up.

Dolls with an open mouth or teeth can't stay at my house.

Some of these are terrifying. I think I might make in case of emergency plan for my dolls just in case.
I'm mostly on Tumblr now.

Sorry, I think I missed a question or two but it's been a horrible few weeks here and I got behind on things doll related. Doll phobias? Well, the re-stinging thing, yeah. That is intimidating. I've never managed it yet on 18" plastic kid dolls and I'm definitely nervous of it because I am getting my first partially strung BJD, 2 of them Delilah Noir's, and if anything is wrong that way I probably won't be able to correct it. But my biggest phobia has already occurred, partly. My Mel Odom Gene dolls and my Madame Alex fashion dolls they're all going weird colors. I'm deathly afraid my Tonners are next. $125 and up retail price on some of these dolls and they're going yellow?

Okay I bought most of them for a lot less used, or got them as gifts from my family et all, but still they were sold new at that much! So far the only Tonner I'm noticing any change with is my Harry Potter. He's gone darker and a bit more olive skinned but I really dread what's happening to my other dolls happening to them. I've got dolls heads now that have no bodies because they got all brittle and yellow over time. From reading online I gather it happens all the time. Bad vinyl from the factories or something but it still bothers me a lot when this happens. I've been able to re-body some of them but I can't really afford to just go and buy new bodies for them all.

I'm thinking of trying this process just to see what happens. It seems to works on plastic computers and it's not like the bodies are usable otherwise anyhow. I read on a doll board someone had tried it on action figures and it worked. But I haven't seen anyone mentioning they've tried it on a fashion doll body. I doubt it would fix the brittle thing, but maybe it would de-yellow my Madame Alex and Gene dolls?

I'm fearful that something could happen to them when I'm not near them. I think the one thing that would most likely occur is someone breaking them. My two may be brats, but they are my brats. I would cry if anything terrible were to happen to them.

None of mine are phobias but they are fears. I'm not as scared of restringing and faceups now that I've done some, with the help of a very good friend. I'm not worried about minor breaks or dents since Fleur broke a finger and has a dent in her headcap after falling off a bronze statue during a photoshoot(Long story and the photos didn't even turn out well)

But I'm terrified that something will happen to Alwyn. She's a Soulkid from 2005 and there is a small crack in her the ball-joint of her knee. Plus she creaks something awful when I move her limbs. I know that I should probably just suck it up and restring her but I'm so scared that she'll break somehow. I was having to calming breathes when stripping her faceup because there is this white residue, which I know is most likely leftover sealent. My mind was screaming that I was damaging my 'middle sister'.

Of course there's the usual "what if there's an emergency" and 'what if they get stolen" fears but Alwyn breaking is my number one dolly fear.

I sometimes wonder about people who have pediophobia. (Fear of dolls) Aparently it's a rather common anxiety disorder which often times stem from childhood. Since it seems like no one here has this phobia, I'm curious to know if you've ever known anyone with this fear and how you would talk to them about your dolliehs. My friend thinks all my girls are creepy, so I don't share them with her. :(

I wouldn't say phobias, exactly. I have phobias of spiders and tornadoes, and certain sea creatures (seriously, I will NOT go into the ocean unless I can clearly see how many sharks and jellyfish are swimming in there with me). But phobias of dolls? Nah, not so much. I mean, I have concerns, like long ears or fingers snapping off, and being unable to fix or replace broken parts. Especially limiteds. But I wouldn't call it a phobia.
