Slowly shuffling back into being part of communities rather than just lurking (hi guiz) and back to things that made me happy before, like cosplay. Unfortunately, in the past year I became fashion historian for a small museum and its turned me into an authenticity monster, which is making cosplay just so much more fun. In a 'how do I make this? Why does the fabric move like that? HOW DO THOSE RUFFLES EVEN WORK?!' kind of way :<

Perhaps Rozen Maiden wasn't a good one to break back into cosplay with...

WELCOME BACK!!! *big hugs* It's good to see old friends coming "home" again :)

Ooooo, being a fashion historian sounds like FUN!!! I love historical clothing :) In fact, I've spent tooooo much money the past few weeks buying Folkwear patterns! I've lusted for them for years, not just for the fun patterns but because I love the line-art on the covers so I finally caved in to my longings and started tracking down second hand ones as cheap as possible LOL. And I know what you mean about the authenticity disease! My BF and I both have it - though she is worse than me. Going to a Rennaisance Festival with her is so annoying because every person we see she'll tell me why it isn't an authentic costume, what period it doesn't belong to etc... I have to remind her that everyone out there isn't as anal retentive about those things as she is hahahahaha

Oh my, yea, Rozen Maiden isn't exactly an easy one for a restart LOL. However, be sure to post pics when you finish!!!

*hugs back* Nice to see ya again Grey :3

And uh...fashion historian, not so much fun. On the plus side, I get to play with lots of pretty old clothing. But having to find ways to repair everything, explain why its bad to let a 150 year old dress hang on a wire hanger in a closet, fix endless amounts of popped and torn seams, and explain over and over to the clueless president of the museum that Elizabethan and Edwardian periods are not anywhere near each other, style or time wise... It makes my brain hurt :<

Down to two houses for front runners, the dolls get a room and pony yard house and the "dirty" house as the last buyer backed out. no doll room in the "dirty" house but it had a good vibe.

If it doesn't have a dolly room, if theres enough room in the yard you could try a studio-shed sort of thing. My family has a few, though our yard is admittedly kind of big. Just a standard prefabricated garage or shed with a window-unit air conditioner and a dehumidifier to protect the dolls. Plus then no strong chemicals or fumes in your house if you're working with sealants or epoxy or anything.

Not a room to make them in, a room for all of them to live in... Actually both of those places have doll rooms, but we're still looking for other places incase one of those falls through. We almost had another one and got outbid on the "dirty" house before, don't know what happened there and don't care if it ends up ours.

*The most grrrrr part is not knowing which house because the upfront price to get in can vary. To get in to the biggest house we have to practically buy nothing and eat ramen, but that and only that house it worth it. The other houses are much less to the point I could spare the gas money to take a day trip and unwind. Until we know the one with more money who can budget better, me, can't spare a dime.

Shopping for the dolls isn't the best way to deal with my anxiety but the only counseling services I can afford are with students who are half my age who have no idea how to deal with a brain injury survivor. Teaching them about a TBI I can do, trying to explain to Miss Popularity whose parents put her through psych school where someone who was dirt poor and relentlessly bullied comes from doesn't come across. Did an MRI for the neurologist yesterday so obviously he wants to get to the bottom of what ever this is.

:? I just had a weird experience. I went to the Twin Pines of Main web site to order some Remove-Zit and Formula 9-1-1. I started to check out expecting to be asked for my info. The next thing I know I get "Thank you <name of stranger> for your order....blah blah blah." I'm like, oh shit how did that happen! I'm not using a public PC. I'm on my personal, private, on one touches it laptop.

I've sent them an email and I'll call in the morning. I'm sure it's to late to call tonight.

I still want the Remove-Zit and Formula 9-1-1 but now I'm not sure I feel safe creating an account on their web site. :( Dang it!

Went roller blading for the first time in years today, man I forgot how fun it can be! (and leg cramping). >.<;
A hobby isn't supposed to leave you wistful, regretful and vaguely disappointed. BJD collecting is as customizable as the dolls themselves. Do whatever pleases you the most, because otherwise, why do it at all? All for the 'Gram Bitches love the 'Gram.

IIRC, Twin Pines was a husband and wife team and the wife died a few years ago. Last I heard, the husband was trying to get out of the business and was kinda-sorta looking for a buyer.
